So what does EVERY bride need to know? First off, You’re going to be married for a very long time, but you only get to be engaged for this short period of time. So this is your chance to capture that short period in your life when you’re each other’s fiancè’s. Second thing is, and we get asked this more than anything else, what should we wear? Well, we can’t go through your closet for you or go shopping with you, even though April would definitely love to do that! What we CAN do though is tell you not to worry, we have a way to help! Oh, and it’s NOT Pinterest!!
Matching shirts with blue jeans went out of style in the 80’s. So let’s not go there! So what do we recommend then? We suggest selecting lighter tones and more muted shades. The camera loves shades of soft pink and muted blues, mixed with sophisticated light neutrals like heather gray, creams, leather brown and white. That softer color palette fits beautifully into almost all natural outdoor environments!
Remember, as you’re coordinating your outfit with your fiancè’s, keep in mind that your outfits will look the most cohesive on camera when the color palettes coordinate, but don’t necessarily “match.” You should each aim to wear a different dominant color, but stay within a similar color palette family.
Also, DO NOT be afraid to dress it up! There is no such thing as “too dressed up”! You’ve been waiting all of your life for this, it’s your time to shine. Have you been looking for the perfect chance to rock a sequined gown, tulle skirt or flower crown but just never had an occasion for it? This is your chance!
We encourage you to brainstorm unique locations! Places that maybe you have access to that others may not. Places like a beautiful private estate, a country club or a resort. Maybe you played sports in college and can get access to the field or campus. The sky is literally the limit when it comes to the location of your shoot. Perhaps there’s a special place that you first met or just love to hang out at? Spend some time to think about it you might be surprised what you can come up with.
One Final Thought!
At the end of the day, though, the location you choose and the outfits you select won’t matter nearly as much as the memories you make together. Your future marriage is the most important thing to us, and we want your engagement session to be a time for you to just be yourselves and enjoy it. Have fun together. Laugh a lot. And we’ll take care of the rest!
